BlueCafe (Wimba)


BlueCafe is a web conferencing tool used by Creighton University that provides live, virtual classrooms where faculty and students come together, bridging physical distances, through audio, video, application sharing, content display and other easy to use communication tools. BlueCafe is the Creighton branded name for Wimba.

BlueCafe is accessible from within all BlueLine courses, making the use of this collaborative tool easy. BlueCafe is available for both campus and distance students.

Faculty and staff can access the BlueCafe standalone application at http://bluecafe.creighton.edu for a virtual meeting with nearly any Creighton or non-Creighton individual or group. To do so, they first need to email bluecafe@creighton.edu and request their own BlueCafe account.

Minimum hardware requirements:

Participant Requirements:

  • Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux*
  • 128 MB RAM (256 MB or higher recommended)
  • Internet Explorer (IE) 7 or Firefox 2.0 – 3.X (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)  Note: IE 8 is not compatible at this time.)
  • Internet access at 56k or above

Presenter Requirements:

  • Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux*
  • 256 MB RAM (higher recommended)
  • Internet Explorer (IE) 7 or Firefox 2.0 – 3.X (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)  Note: IE 8 is not compatible at this time)
  • Internet access at 56k or above (Broadband strongly recommended)
  • Mac OS X 10.3 is not supported for Wimba Classroom 5.1.1+
  • IE for Mac not supported

* Presenters cannot display content via Application Sharing using Linux. However, participants using Linux can view Application Sharing content.

The setup wizard must be run one time only on any computer that will be used for a BlueCafe session. The link to the setup wizard is: http://67.202.210.215/wizard/launcher.cgi?wc=wms
