Minimum System Requirements


The following requirements are made available to assist you when you need to use a non-Creighton issued computer to access the tools needed for distance education and eLearning. Computers issued to Faculty, Staff, and Students by the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions meet these hardware and software requirements.

Hardware:

  • Operating System: Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or higher
  • Memory: 1GB or higher preferred
  • Hard Disk Space: Sufficient to store course materials
  • Monitor: 1024 x 768 minimum resolution
  • Modem: high speed access (cable, DSL) is required
  • CD-ROM: required
  • Sound Card: ability to play audio clips
  • Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or Fire Fox 3.05
  • Plug-ins:
    • RealPlayer for audio and video clips,
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files (Download is available for free from http://www.adobe.com).
    • Adobe Flash Player

Note: OLAT does not support Apple (Macintosh) computers. If you are using an Apple (Macintosh), you may experience problems accessing or not be able to access the course material.

Internet Service Provider:

Students are responsible for obtaining their own internet service provider for internet access from home. America Online (AOL) is not supported by OLAT, users of AOL will most likely encounter difficulties in accessing and using the online courses. AOL users encountering problems accessing course materials will be asked to find another ISP before OLAT is able to provide support.

BlueLine:

  • Windows XP
  • Display resolution: 1024 X 768 (32bit color)
  • Browser: Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3 (Allow pop-ups)
    • The Safari browser is not supported. Mac users (Faculty, Staff, and Students) need to download and install Firefox 3.  

BlueCafe:

Participant Requirements:

  • Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux*
  • 1GB System RAM (Memory)
  • Internet Explorer (IE) 7 or Firefox 3.0 – 3.X (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled) Note: IE 8 is not compatible at this time.)
  • High Speed Internet access

Presenter Requirements:

  • Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux*
  • 1GB System RAM (Memory)
  • Internet Explorer (IE) 7 or Firefox 3.0 – 3.X (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)  Note: IE 8 is not compatible at this time.)
  • High Speed Internet access
  • Mac OS X 10.3 is not supported for Wimba Classroom 5.1.1+
    IE for Mac not supported
    Note: Presenters cannot display content via Application Sharing using Linux. However, participants using Linux can view Application Sharing content.

BlueQ:

Survey Designers: 
In order to design surveys you will need Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher or Fire Fox 3.0 or higher.

Survey Respondents: 
Anyone taking a survey or completing a form designed in BlueQ will need Internet Explorer 7 or higher (Mac variants of Internet Explorer are not supported), Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher, or Safari (Version 3.0 or later is recommended). JavaScript must be enabled.

A minimum screen resolution of 1024 X 768 is required to ensure proper viewing of BlueQ surveys and forms. The required Display DPI setting is Normal Size (96 DPI). To verify this setting follow these steps:

Open Control Panel
Click Display
Click Settings
Click Advanced
