Secure Browser
The School of Pharmacy and Health Professions' secure browser is an application created to ensure students taking online exams are not able to access information outside of the exam, copy, print , or save the exam, or use computer based communication tools during an online exam.
Secure Browser and QuestionMark
- If an instructor chooses to use the secure browser for an online assessment created with QuestionMark, students are not able access the assessment unless they do so within the secure browser.
- Students may download the secure browser to the computer which will be used for an online exam or run the secure browser from a CD.
- Because most exam proctors do not allow students to download and install software to the proctor site computers, all entry-level distance students are provided with a secure browser CD.
- All entry-level campus and distance students are provided with an orientation to the use of QuestionMark and the secure browser during Welcome Week orientation sessions.
Secure Browser and BlueLine
- BlueLine includes a secure browser created by the vendor (Angel Learning). However, the browser is not able to be run from a CD.
- OLAT has not investigated the level of security afforded by the BlueLine secure browser.
- To provide a BlueLine secure browser distance students are able to use at exam proctor sites, a SPAHP secure browser will be created for BlueLine that is able to run from a CD.
- The process of creating a SPAHP secure browser for BlueLine is underway. A release date has not been determined at this time (1/1/08).
